Labour's war on farmers threatens Britain's food security

The extension of Inheritance Tax to small farmers is an act of irresponsible malice that could affect three-quarters of food produced on farms in the UK.

“It’s an industry we could do without.” In those spite-laden words, John McTernan, former political adviser to Tony Blair, dismissed Britain’s struggling farmers and gave notice of Labour’s intent to cull them.

This demented opinion followed upon his claim that “Farmers still get a privileged status for their farms and I think that may or may not be right, I’m personally in favour of doing to farmers, when they go on the streets, we can do to them what Margaret Thatcher did to the miners.”
