If Churchill could stomach lunch, so should Badenoch

The political lunch debate, much like the best sandwich, is multi-layered.

On the surface, the political lunch debate may seem light on content but, like the best sandwich, it is multi-layered. Those engaging with it have revealed much about themselves.

Thanks to Kemi Badenoch, who said in an interview with The Spectator, "What’s a lunch break? Lunch is for wimps", we now know the daytime eating habits of everyone from the prime minister down.

The leader of the opposition has particular beef with sandwiches, which she considers not a "real food", preferring to eat a steak at her desk instead.
