Five things – 23rd November 2017
Where do you stand on drag queens? I accept that this is not a typical question put by the Reaction team to our readers.
More commonly, we might ask whether Angela Merkel is over-rated, or whether the UK’s housing problems are a function of limited supply or failed monetary policies, or whether complacent people will ever wake up to the horrors of what the ghastly Leninists behind Jeremy Corbyn will do to the UK given half a chance.
But today, for a change, I mention drag queens, because they feature in a new musical that is destined – I think – to be a huge hit in London’s West End. It was with some scepticism that I attended one of the early performances this week because (declaration) it is co-produced by a friend.
It is sensationally good. The new musical in question is Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. The songs, acting and jokes are so good that it got five stars in The Times review today. It is on my list of five things today. Book now to avoid disappointment.
Don’t be like me, who when on a trip to New York and offered a cheap ticket to see some new show that had just opened called Hamilton, or something, said “no thanks”, to my eternal regret.
