Any day on which Labour, the Tories and the Duke of Sussex all suffer crushing defeats can only be classified as red letter, making last Thursday a celebratory date in the calendar. There was an almost Old Testament flavour to many of the defeats, a smiting of the Amalekites on a scale not witnessed since biblical times.
